WRBLO Fundraising K2
Kisiizi Hospital’s Community Health Insurance Scheme (CHIS) started with 330 members beneficiaries and over the last 25 years, Kisiizi’s CHIS has grown to 45,000 members who retain their premiums as members across 225 groups.
These groups are known as Bataka or Engozi Societies. These groups are residents in 6 Districts (Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kabale, Ntungamo, Rukiga, Rubanda) some of which are up to 60km from the main Kisiizi Hospital. CHISgroups comprise a minimum of 20 households and pay 11,000 -17,000 Ugandan Shillings (£2.25 – £3.50) per person in each group per year. The funds are collected by the group leader, who submits the total sum to Kisiizi’sHealth Insurance Scheme Office.
Affordable access to healthcare is a fundamental key to economic growth and WRBLO is working to support Kisiizi Hospital CHIS, to expand its members.
